Rwanda Kolping Society is recruiting a Fundraising Officer to establish and lead its fundraising and resource-mobilization function.

Overview

Rwanda Kolping Society (RKS) is a non-profit organization and project partner in Rwanda. It contributes to the fight against poverty among socially and economically disadvantaged people through the creation and development of self-help organizations that mobilize and empower communities to carry out self-help projects.

With 6,594 members in 128 Kolping Families, the democratically structured membership organization has grown considerably since its foundation in 2008. Since the start of BMZ funding in 2017, savings and credit groups have been established in practically all self-help groups, together with training measures designed to improve productivity.

The project in Rwanda aims to empower smallholder households to improve their productivity, production and standard of living. Its objective is to combat income poverty, strengthen resilience and help households access additional sources of income.

About the Organization

Rwanda Kolping Society is a membership-based non-governmental organization founded in 2008.

The organization is based in Rugazi agglomeration, Ruyenzi Cell, Runda Sector, Kamonyi District, Southern Province.

As the organization grows, it is committed to becoming a strong, financially sustainable, membership-based organization.

To strengthen its long-term sustainability, Rwanda Kolping Society seeks a Fundraising Officer to establish and lead its fundraising function.

Purpose of the Position

The Fundraising and Resource Mobilization Officer will support the organization’s transition towards long-term financial sustainability.

The position is responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s first fundraising and resource-mobilization strategy, diversifying funding sources, strengthening public visibility and building long-term partnerships.

The position requires regular travel to project locations, donor meetings, networking events and fundraising activities within Rwanda, as well as engagement with national and international partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Fundraising and Resource Mobilization Strategy.
  • Design a sustainable fundraising concept with measurable annual targets.
  • Identify funding opportunities from institutional donors, foundations, companies, embassies and individuals.
  • Prepare concept notes, grant proposals and donor applications.
  • Design and coordinate fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Lead public-relations and communication activities.
  • Develop success stories, newsletters, brochures and annual reports.
  • Manage and strengthen the organization’s website and social-media presence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, partners and sponsors.
  • Coordinate donor reporting with program and finance teams.
  • Maintain a donor database and fundraising pipeline.
  • Monitor fundraising performance and recommend improvements.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • At least five years of experience in NGO fundraising or resource mobilization.
  • Proven proposal-writing and donor-engagement experience.
  • Strong communication, networking and public-relations skills.
  • Creativity in developing fundraising campaigns.
  • Knowledge of digital fundraising and marketing is an advantage.
  • High integrity, initiative and results orientation.
